JOIN TSAR
Becoming a member of Taos Search and Rescue means joining a team of individuals committed to serving the community with a high degree of professionalism and expertise. Individual heroism and recognition are not what SAR work is about. While each person does play a vital role in the mission scenario, it is only through teamwork and cooperation that a search or rescue succeeds.
Once you join Taos Search and Rescue, you’ll receive regular training in wilderness survival, back-country safety, first aid, navigation, radio communication, lost-person behavior, and search and evacuation techniques. Training is also offered in specialties
ATTEND A MEETING
TSAR meets for a General Meeting and Classroom Training every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm. Holidays in November and December will sometimes move up our schedule one week, depending on that year's calendar.
TSAR is currently holding most classroom trainings at UNM's Bataan Hall on Civic Plaza Drive, with an occasional need to still meet via Zoom. If you would like to attend a general meeting and classroom training, please click the button below and we will send you the information for our next meeting/training. All potential applicants are welcome to attend our meeting and classroom training!
ATTEND A FIELD TRAINING
TSAR holds one general field training each month out in the wilderness. Field Training takes place on alternating Saturdays or Sundays, the weekend following the General Meeting and Classroom Training. We welcome all potential applicants to join us for field training.
